Character Rigging with Max Bones

This course is a part of our 3D Character Animators / Artist course

This course is not only an entry level course for the new user, but is also relevant to existing users wanting to upgrade or enhance their existing 3d skills, or perhaps change over from other 3d packages.

The course covers the major concepts and techniques for successful 3d character animation using 3ds Max Bones rigs. You will be involved in animating a number of 3d modeled character utilising biped rigs and max bone rigs. Successful character animation depends not only on having good character rig setups, but in particular being able to use these rigs and get the most out of them to enable you to "bring your characters to life". This course concentrates not so much on the setups, but how to use the tools for successful 3d character animation.

Organised into a series of theory and hands on lab assignments, the course ensures that the student will receive 35 hours of well paced, intensive professional training.

Once you have completed this course, you will have a commercial level understanding of professional 3d character rigging and animation techniques using 3ds Max Bones and disciplines that relate directly to the 3d animation and digital industry, whether it be Film, Broadcast, TV, or Web.

This course does not just focus on the buttons, but does cover the processes that underlie them and the reasons they are used in production. This not only helps you understand the concepts, but also how to apply them to your own work.

This course teaches you the essential elements and concepts of both character rigging and animation using 3ds Max bones. You will benefit from the experience of Autodesk Certified Instructors as well as educators, consultants and Autodesk Training Specialists who have helped to put this course together.

Pre-Requisites
3ds Max Fundamentals: Overview, Materials, Lighting & Rendering
3ds Max Fundamentals: Modeling & Animation
Prior knowledge of 3ds Max interface and navigation is assumed
A working knowledge of PC's and the Windows operating environment is assumed.

 

Course Outline


Animation with 3ds Max Bones Rigs
This module covers the techniques creating Max Bones rigs and working with completed 3ds Max Bone rigs for character and other types of animation. Also covered in detail are working with custom attributes, sliders and other custom rig tools as well using your track view and dope sheet editors for added refinement and control of your animations.
