Demo Reel : Creation

This course is a part of our 3D Character Animators / Artist course

This course is not only an entry level course for the new user, but is also relevant to existing users wanting to upgrade or enhance their existing 3d skills, or perhaps change over from other 3d packages.

The course covers the major concepts and techniques for successful creation of a demo reel. Whether it be a portfolio of work representing your companies modeling and animation projects or to be used towards gaining you employment as a professional 3d Artist or Animator a demo reel created for a specific purpose is always guaranteed to be successful rather than an all purpose, generalised approach.

Organised into a series of theory and hands on lab assignments, the course ensures that the student will receive 70 hours of well paced, intensive professional training.

Once you have completed this course, you will have a commercial level understanding of how to create a professional demo reel to the level that relates directly to the 3d animation and digital industry, whether it be Film, Broadcast, TV, Web, or Pre-press.

This course does not just focus on the how, but also on the reasons why demo reels are expected to be presented and put together in a certain way. The course not only helps you understand the concepts of good design principles and relevance, but also how to apply them to your own demo reels.

This course teaches you the essential elements and concepts of demo reel creation. You will benefit from the experience of Discreet Certified Instructors as well as educators, consultants and Discreet Training Specialists who have helped to put this course together.

2. Planning for successful complete and creation.
What to include in your reel and what to leave out.

3. Different reels for different deals.
A demo reel aimed at getting you a job as a technical director, character rigger should be completely different to one aimed at getting you a job as a character modeler. We look at the processes for getting the right reel, understanding job descriptions, understanding what the potential employer or client is really looking for in your reels and portfolios.

4. Putting it all together.
Once you have planned your reel or portfolio, gathered a list of content, worked out your creative approach and layout, you then start to put all of the pieces together. We show you how.
