Advanced Lighting

This course is a part of our 3D Character Animators / Artist course

This course is a basic to intermediate level course intended for the experienced user wanting to upgrade or enhance their existing 3d skills in the discipline of 3d digital lighting design and rendering

The course covers the major functional areas of the latest version of 3ds Max primarily, 3d lighting design utilizing advanced lighting solutions such as Mental Ray advanced lighting, daylight systems, photometric lights, and industry standard HDRI lighting. Covered in detail are the principles of good lighting as well as its application to interior and exterior spaces.

This course is dedicated to giving you real world examples of how lighting is used in production and design visualisation. It is not just about using good cinematographic lighting techniques, but also how to incorporate specific advances available through 3DS Max. This course draws on the relationship of digital lighting from two sources; its cinematographic cousin, lighting in video and film productions to simulate real world conditions as well as the real world itself, accurately simulating real world lighting solutions, both internally and externally.

Organised into a series of theory and hands on lab assignments, the course ensures that the student will receive 21 hours of well paced, intensive professional training.

Once you have completed this course, you will have a commercial level understanding of professional 3d digital lighting design that relates directly to the 3d animation and digital industry, whether it be Film, Broadcast, TV, Architectural or Design Visualisation, Web or Pre-Press.

This course does not just focus on the buttons, but does cover the processes that underlie them and the reasons they are used in production. This not only helps you understand the concepts, but also how to apply them to your own work.

This course teaches you the essential elements and concepts of lighting design within the 3Dimensional world using 3ds Max. You will benefit from the experience of Autodesk Certified Instructors as well as educators, consultants and Autodesk Training Specialists who have helped to put this course together.
